1899 Antique Folk Art Notre Dame Cathedral Gothic Hand Carved Wood Model yqz
WOW! Truly Spectacular! Auction Ending 2/3/15, 10:26PM EST http://yqz.me/notre_dame

We have an antique, circa 1899, folk art wooden model of the renowned French architecture, Notre Dame Cathedral. Each wooden trim and pillar is

1899 Antique Folk Art Notre Dame Cathedral Gothic Hand Carved Wood Model

1899 Antique Folk Art Notre Dame Cathedral Gothic Hand Carved Wood Model

nicely hand-carved and fitted, all made from scratch, with no indicators of a ready made kit! It’s not hard to see the time, effort, and love that went into making this detailed masterpiece. Even the rose windows are ornately applied, made from what appears to be a shiny, sheet like material, adorned with paint to mimic the ornate design of cathedral windows. Each molding and frame creating the two towers, pinnacles, arcades, and gables are original wood. In addition, the beautiful and famous west facade of Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris has several miniature clay figurines attached to the plinth- there’s a priest, and several Frenchmen in period attire.

The cathedral is on a wooden plinth, measuring at approx. 11.75 x 18.25 x 9.75,” and the cathedral itself measures at approx. 12″ h x 10″ w; weighing a sturdy 5.8 pounds! There are places of wood glue formation or solidification, the tips of the pinnacles are chipped off, wear of the wood is apparent, and its apparent that some of the clay figures have detached, with one chipped off. Otherwise, a truly amazing folk art piece. You won’t be disappointed with this Notre Dame miniature scale wooden model! Happy Bidding!

Original Engraving by Jacob Gole Auction Ends Feb 3, 2015 9:30PM EST http://yqz.me/RareEngraving

In this auction, we have an antique engraving titled, “Prudentia Vigilantia” by Jacob Gole with the original painting executed by Du Molin. Gole,

RARE 1699 Antique Doctor Franciscus Piens Portrait Mezzotint Engraving Gole

RARE 1699 Antique Doctor Franciscus Piens Portrait Mezzotint Engraving Gole

was a known Dutch (mezzotint) engraver from 1675-1724. We are dating this piece late 17th to early 18th century, circa 1699. We are calling this rare, because the only other engravings we found are currently in the archives of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, History of Medicine Division, and Rijks Museum Collection. The mezzotint depicts a portrait of Franciscus Hadrianides Piens, an author and medicinal doctor in right pose, holding skull. There is a coat-of-arms underneath the portrait with a knight mask adorned with a lion. Piens was a pioneer in the medicinal world in the late 1600’s, as he and his colleages published a book titled, “Tractatus de febribus” in 1689, published by Apud Samuelem de Tournes. The paper is cut close by a previous owner, and then laid on a matte board paper and displayed in an antique frame with wavy glass (with bubbles!) and black wooden frame rimmed with gesso. It measures at approx. 19 x 14″ with a sight size of 10 x 15.” There is wear on the frame, and some chipping of the gesso rim. Understandable toning and foxing on the engraving and matting. A true collector’s item, sure to be a conversation starter. Happy Bidding!

Description composed by world renowned Asian expert & appraiser, Mr. Anthony Lee. His bio is below.

Canada/US – early 1900’s. Northwest Coast Haida Native Tsimshian First Nations Carved Wood Slave Figure. Of carved wood and painted brown. Carved as

a male, possibly a slave or vanquished warrior figure, in a couching form with knees bent and hands clasped behind his back, the head pulled back with an animal figure emanating from the tied wrists and pulling at the figure’s topknot. Standing on a wood ring. Cracked, chipping and loss of pigment in areas (see photos). The shape and twisted form of this figure corresponds to the form of some massive house posts / piers found in west coast house interiors, here carved in a diminutive form possibly for trade purposes in the early 20th century around the same time as the popularization of miniature totem poles in argyllite. The very round eyes in deep wells, nose and wide mouth strongly suggest Haida sculpture, and likely Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii) as the origin of this piece. It measures approx. 17 3/4″ tall x 5 1/2″ x 6 1/4″.

First off we are not Martin or Ukulele experts, so, please feel free to ask any questions. We believe this is a “Style 0″ C.F. Martin Soprano Uke.

Vintage/Antique 1930's/40's C.F. Martin Soprano Ukulele Uke w/Cloth Case

Vintage/Antique 1930’s/40’s C.F. Martin Soprano Ukulele Uke w/Cloth Case

With a cloth carrying case. We believe from our research, this is after 1935 to the early 1940’s. We see a small missing glaze spot on the top in the lower right corner, about the size of half our little fingernail. Everything we see says this is really clean and in great shape. It measures overall approx. 21″ by 6 3/8″ wide. GOOD LUCK!!

C.F. Martin & Company is a U.S. guitar manufacturer established in 1833 by Christian Frederick Martin. Martin is highly regarded for its steel-string guitars and is a leading mass-manufacturer of flattop acoustics. Martin instruments can cost thousands of dollars and vintage instruments often cost six figures. The company has also made several models of electric guitars and electric basses.

The company’s headquarters and primary factory are in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, located in the Lehigh Valley region of the state. Martin also manufactures instruments in Mexico. Martin produced 182 instruments during 1900, increasing to 24,085 in 2000.

Removable Panel To Display Clock ~ Unique! Ending July 20, 2014 18:50:01 PDT http://yqz.me/Carriage-Clock

Up in this auction is a 19th century Carriage Brass & Glass Clock signed French. It has its ORIGINAL BOX which is quite unique. The box has a red

Antique 19th C Brass French Carriage Clock ORIGINAL BOX Victorian Era France

Antique 19th C Brass French Carriage Clock ORIGINAL BOX Victorian Era France

removable panel that will allow the clock to be seen with it fully inside. This would help to protect it while it was riding around. It is quite unique that an original box would still be in such good shape, given the age. It has an rectangle beveled glass view window on the top under a small swing handle, and the other 4 sides are flaned with the same great beveled glass. The white face has a few hairlines through it, but they do not seem to hinder performance. This piece is in working order as it stands, however it will need a good once over when you receive it, as with any antique clock that is shipped any distance. The piece is signed only France on the face. A well made clock in a small package with its original box. It measures approx. 5″ tall and 3 1/4″ wide by only 2 1/2″ deep. The box measures approx. 4″ x 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″. The box is near shabby chic condition, just wear commensurate with age and a crack across the lid that does not hinder function. What a fun find! Good Luck!

A Great Gaff on a Stick Not Sure Who By UNUSUAL Ending Jul 14, 2014 18:36:01 PDT http://yqz.me/Shrunken-Head-Mummified

Ok, we always wanted to have a shrunken head, and one came up at an auction recently and we were bound and determined to win it and bring it home to offer it up here on eBay.

Obviously made, most likely to go in a sideshow of oddities somewhere, the blonde shrunken head has two horns coming out of its nostrils, a ring piercing the bridge of the nose, eyes shut and lips looking stitched shut. The head is mounted on an old stick with a wound cord on it. All this mounted and SEALED in an old upside down glass pitcher with an applied handle, a top adhered to that, mounted in an old biscuit tin. We could not get it open. Overall it measures approx. 14 1/4″ high. This is just plain too cool and a must have for anyone who loves oddities.
