Antique ruddy turnstone shorebird decoy signed by H.V. Shourds. Harry Van Nuckson “Nuck” (H.V.) Shourds (circa 1861 to 1920) was a decoy carver of Tuckerton, Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. He was the father of decoy carver Harry Kitchell Shourds (1890 to 1943) of Tuckerton and later Ocean City, New Jersey. Hand signed on the bottom ” H.V. SHOURDS” this decoy has been wonderfully carved and hand painted. It is in excellent condition and we found no chips, cracks or breaks. It stands at approx. 12″ tall x 11 1/2″ from beak to tail. This extraordinary bird belongs in your collection. Good luck.
