Even with a reputation of handling noteworthy items, this small antiques company on the East Coast is noticing a buzz around their water-cooler.  The Buffalo Bill Cody Personal Collection is now up for auction on eBay and will end on March 18, 2014 at 9:40 P.M. Eastern Time.

“When we were contacted to sell the personal belongings of ‘Buffalo Bill’, we knew that is was a special opportunity. It’s not every day that you get your hands on an undiscovered collection like this. The items are exquisite and we know that our audience will appreciate them. For us to be able to offer all 8 items in one lot, on eBay, in an auction style format, selling to the highest bidder, no reserve and starting less than a dollar … where else does this happen?”

“The Buffalo Bill Cody collection is a time capsule of the old west and U.S. history that has remained in the hands of family members since William Buffalo Bill” Cody died in 1917,” says Norb Novocin, owner of Estate Auctions, Inc.

“We handle many interesting antiques, but this lot stands out as an historical artifact.  It is an honor to actually handle family mementos of this caliber.” said Norb and Marie’s son Andy.

Included in the collection is, two dedicated and signed cabinet card photos of Buffalo Bill Cody. A first edition of his very first book in 1879, dedicated and signed by him. Two never before seen photos of him, one, an ambrotype of him at 4 years of age and the second, a rare style of photo, a Crystoleum Plate, of him circa mid 1870’s. An envelope of crumbled leaves from Buffalo Bill’s grave on Lookout Mountain, pencil inscribed by his family member and dated on a Norristown, PA bank envelope. Buffalo Bill’s “Traveling” Meerschaum pipe, with a small dog on it, in its original case. And finally his personal grooming kit, including his straight edge razors and his mustache comb.

William Frederick “Buffalo Bill” Cody (1846-1917) the hero and American legend was a pony express rider, soldier, scout, bison hunter and showman. He was wildly popular in his day and was the first true international celebrity, arguably the first superstar of the modern world. The media loved him and he always seemed to be in the right spot at the right time and by the end of the nineteenth century arguably the most photographed person in the world.
